This catalogue documents the collection of Flemish paintings of the period 1600-1800 in Statens Museum for Kunst. The collection includes outstanding works by such seventeenth century masters as Peter Paul Rubens and Jacob Jordaens as well as a wide range of Flemish landscape, genre, and still-life paintings. Following an introduction to the collection, entries on the paintings are arranged alphabetically by artist with a biography, a bibliography for each painting and information about provenance. Individual entries provide full scholarly information and discuss questions of attribution, iconography and art-historical context, and comparative examples are supplied.
