How to submit a text

For future issues the editors welcome contributions and suggestions for the following sections:

Curator’s news & notes

  • Texts on all kinds of events at your museum or in your region concerning Dutch and Flemish art
  • Preferred combinations of text length, image size and format:
    • 1100-1170 words with 2 vertical images (see Courant 15, pp. 4-5)
    • 1000-1100 words with 1 large horizontal image (see Courant 15, pp. 6-7)
    • 950-1030 words with 2 small horizontal images and 1 large horizontal image (see Courant 14, pp. 4-5)
    • 1000-1100 words with 1 large horizontal image and 1 small vertical image (see Courant 12, pp. 4-5)

Curator’s collections

  • Introductions to (parts) of your collection
  • Text length 1150-1200 words with 4-10 images

Curator’s case

  • Reflective or opinion pieces on practical or policy issues pertaining to your work as a curator
  • Preferred combinations of text length, image size and format:
    • 1100-1170 words with 2 vertical images (see Courant 15, pp. 4-5)
    • 1000-1100 words with 1 large horizontal image (see Courant 15, pp. 6-7)
    • 950-1030 words with 2 small horizontal images and 1 large horizontal image (see Courant 14, pp. 4-5)
    • 1000-1100 words with 1 large horizontal image and 1 small vertical image (see Courant 12, pp. 4-5)
    • 1750 words without an image

Curator’s interview

  • Questions you would like to address to your colleagues
  • Preferred combinations of text length, image size and format:
    • 1150 words with 1 small image (see Courant 16, pp. 18-19)
    • 1750 words without an image

Faits divers

  • Announcements of upcoming events and projects, acquisitions, job changes, requests for information, etc.
  • Text length maximum 200 words, no images

Style sheet

Please submit your copy in the style described in the note for contributors

The editors will judge submitted texts. Once a contribution is accepted for publication, the editing and production process usually takes about three months. After the text is accepted, it is sent to the managing editor, where it will be styled to conform to the CODART style sheet. The edited text is returned to the author for final corrections. 

Image delivery

  • Please ensure that images for publishing in the Courant are of good quality. Digital images should have a resolution of at  least 300dpi and preferably be sent in .tiff or .eps format; however .jpg format is also acceptable. Images must have a minimum original height of 12 cm. They should not be enlarged to this size.
  • Files up to 8 MB can be sent by e-mail to . Larger files can be uploaded from your computer to an Internet-server using a file delivery service such as the free www.sendspace.com or www.yousendit.com. Digital images on a CD, color photographs or ektachromes are also welcome. Please send them to the editors’ address below.
  • If you have any doubts about the quality of your images, please feel free to send them to and we will check their resolution.
