Over 300 researchers are employed by the OGC. They carry out research in the fields of classical antiquity and medieval culture, cultural history, art history, literature, eastern studies, international political history, socio-economic history and women's studies. Some of this research, namely the contract research, is done on behalf of third parties.
Furthermore, the OGC offers high-quality programs which train researchers. For example, the OGC is responsible for seven research masters (including "Art history of the Low Countries in European context") and makes a number of PhD student places available each year. It also offers talented foreign researchers the opportunity to spend the last (two) year(s) of their doctoral dissertation research in Utrecht.
Internationalization is a high priority within the OGC. It has exchange contracts with a number of foreign universities including the prestigious UCLA in the United States. Moreover researchers and staff have fruitful contacts with the international scientific community.
