From the museum website

Museum Boijmans has a collection of 31 drawings made by Rembrandt himself. In addition, there are 160 drawings by pupils and artists from his environment, showing the artistic influence of the great master from the Golden Age. Most of the drawings are from the world-famous Koenigs Collection. The exhibition, curtain raiser for the Rembrandt year 2006 in Museum Boijmans, is offering a rare opportunity to admire not only the complete collection of drawings by Rembrandt in Rotterdam, but also a wide selection of drawings by his contemporaries.

Museum press release

Although Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) was only in Rotterdam a few times, as he was for instance in 1634, to paint the portrait of the brewer Dirck Janszoon Pesser and his wife Haesje Jacobsdochter van Cleyburg, the master left his mark on the seaport.

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen owns only three paintings by Rembrandt. Besides, there are more than thirty authentic drawings in the collection and many more by his pupils and followers. With the exception of those in the Rijksmuseum this is the largest collection of Rembrandt’s drawings in the Netherlands.

Since 1988 the drawings have no longer been exhibited as a group. This is why all of them, as well as a selection of works by his pupils and followers, are now put on show. The celebration of Rembrandt’s four-hundredth birthday in 2006 is an excellent opportunity to do so.

Catalogue

The exhibition is accompanied by the book of the same name (Dutch-English) written by senior curator Dr. Albert J. Elen. It contains full-size colour plates of more than half the 100 drawings exhibited, including all autograph Rembrandts. Available from the Museum Shop. The publication was supported by KPMG.
