From the museum website

Rembrandt’s New Testament etchings form the climax of a tradition that began in the Netherlands with Lucas van Leyden, and was carried on by masters such as Maarten van Heemskerck, Maarten de Vos and Hendrick Goltzius. Rembrandt’s ‘dialogue’ with his predecessors is therefore a leitmotif within the exhibition’s story. Reproduction graphics after designs by artists such as Raphael and Rubens will also be on view, with compositions that for centuries would become the norm for New Testament iconography. The full breadth of this art will be shown using picture books, illustrated bibles, devotional works and prints, popular prints and prints for children.
