Nassau County Museum of Art issues call for papers for symposium on Flemish art and culture

Beginning 8/26/07, The Nassau County Museum of Art will exhibit major works by Pieter Bruegel the Younger, including The Netherlandish Proverbs, The Peasant Wedding, Merriment and Seven Deadly Sins. In conjunction with this exhibition, NCMA will host the first in a series of Humanities Symposia on September 29, 2007. The keynote speaker is Wolfgang Mieder, Ph.D., Professor of German and Folklore, The University of Vermont.
Contributors are encouraged to submit abstracts, no more than 300 words in length, for papers/presentations (10 – 12 min) that examine the rich culture that surrounds the work and life of Pieter Bruegel the Younger. Topics of particular interest in this field include, but are not limited to, genre painting, sculpture, literature, architecture, music, The Eighty Years War and The Reformation.
Deadline for submission is July 31, 2007.
