The Seattle Art Museum’s collection of European painting, sculpture, prints, drawings and decorative arts consists of nearly 170 works by Dutch and Flemish artists dating from the fifteenth through eighteenth centuries. At the heart of the collection lie paintings by Peter Paul Rubens, Gerrit van Honthorst, Abraham van Beyeren, Stradanus, and Michaelina Wautier. Significant works by Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt van Rijn, and Paul Bril anchor the prints and drawings collection. A marble figure by Giambologna is an iconic work for which the sculpture collection is well- known, and the museum’s holdings in European decorative arts and design include a number of fine ceramic pieces, such as Delftware vases from the “Metal Pot “(De Metaale Pot) Factory, and several largescale tapestries by Jacob van der Borcht and Judocus de Vos.
