On 13 October, Teylers Museum in Haarlem, together with the Kunstkamera in Saint-Petersburg and the Franckesche Stiftungen in Halle (Germany), founded the Alliance of Early Universal Museums.
The alliance aims to promote cooperation between museums that were founded before 1800 in Europe and other parts of the world. The three founding members are among the oldest in Europe. All are housed in historical monuments and hold varied collections in the fields of art and science. Plans have been made to expand the number of members of the alliance. Additionally, joint exhibition projects have been proposed as well as cooperative projects that will improve digital access to the collections.
