Rembrandt: Masterpieces in Etching from the Morgan Library, New York has been organized by the Pierpont Morgan Library, which houses the largest and finest collection of Rembrandt etchings in North America. The exhibition, which makes its only Canadian stop at the AGO, includes 83 magnificient etchings by one of the world''s most famous artists.
In brilliant, early impressions, the prints touch on all the Dutch master''s favourite themes - portraits and self-portraits, nudes, landscapes, biblical and mythological subjects. The exhibition explores Rembrandt''s humanity - his intellectual enthusiasms, personal struggles and spiritual dilemmas.
