Lines of Friendship Commemorates Robert-Jan te Rijdt

A publication celebrating the life and scholarship of Robert-Jan te Rijdt, the former curator of drawings at the Rijksmuseum who passed away in November 2024, appeared last November. The first copies of this substantial volume, encompassing 560 pages and featuring 700 illustrations, were presented to Robert-Jan te Rijdt’s daughter and other family members during an event held at the Rijksmuseum.

Lines of Friendship

Entitled Lines of Friendship, the publication features 55 art historical essays contributed by no fewer than 57 authors. The essays address subjects spanning from the late sixteenth century to the present day, with a marked concentration on the eighteenth century. They examine a wide spectrum of the visual arts, including paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, the applied arts, and garden architecture.
