Anne van Oosterwijk Named Director of MSK Ghent

Anne van Oosterwijk (CODART member since 2007) will become the new Director of the Museum of Fine Arts Ghent (MSK) on 1 October 2026, bringing nearly two decades of museum experience to one of Belgium’s leading art institutions.

Van Oosterwijk has worked at Musea Brugge since 2007 and has served as Director of Collections since 2020. She combines a strong background in art history with extensive experience in museum strategy and operations. At the MSK, one of her priorities will be to further enhance the visitor experience of the museum’s collection. The Museum Director of the MSK is appointed for a six-year term, renewable once for another six years.

The appointment comes as part of the renewed leadership model of AGB Arts and Heritage Ghent, the organization that oversees the MSK alongside five other museums and six historic houses. Earlier this year, Ghent’s museums and historic houses were brought together under a single organizational structure to strengthen collaboration and make the city’s arts and heritage more accessible to a wider audience. As part of this broader transition, Nils Vanantwerpen has also been appointed General Director of AGB Arts and Heritage Ghent. He will oversee the organization’s overall strategy, business operations, and collaboration across the network.
