Curators Stipend in Belgium

Curators Stipend

In 2026, the Friends of CODART Foundation will offer one Curators Stipend to a museum in Belgium, in partnership with the King Baudouin Foundation (KBF). With the thematic Encouraging Young Talent Fund the KBF wishes to support young talent in the arts. They are offering three grants for museums in Belgium to appoint a junior curator for the duration of six months, to support a senior curator and gain experience in a curatorial role. The Friends of CODART Foundation finances one of these three grants, consisting of €25.000.

Applications are processed by the King Baudouin Foundation and will be judged by an independent jury assembled by the KBF. The final selection for the Friends of CODART grant will be made by the board of the Friends of CODART Foundation. Below are the most important criteria for the Friends of CODART Curators Stipend. A full overview of all conditions and criteria can be found on the website of the King Baudouin Foundation.

  • The grant is used to appoint a junior curator for the duration of six months, who can take over the senior curator’s daily tasks, freeing up the current curator to research the collection. Alternatively, the junior curator may conduct research and thus support the current curator;
  • The grant is requested by a museum or project focusing on Dutch or Flemish art before 1800;
  • The senior curator is a member of CODART, and the junior curator will be offered membership for the duration of their appointment;
  • Applications can only be submitted by licensed museums, libraries, or heritage institutions in Belgium.
