CODART, Dutch and Flemish art in museums worldwide

George Abrams Appointed First CODART Ambassador

As of this summer, the Friends of CODART Foundation has introduced a new category: Ambassador. This designation is reserved for long-time CODART supporters and Patrons for Life who have consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment to the organization.

The board has appointed Old Master drawings collector George Abrams, a long-time Patron of CODART, as the first Ambassador. Abrams has supported CODART in multiple ways for many years, for instance by providing contacts and making extra donations, while always expressing enthusiastic interest in our activities. He has acted as a true ambassador by actively promoting our organization to others, and for that he is now honored with this title.

George Abrams: “I appreciate very much this special honor and, of course, accept it with gratitude. I have spent much of the art side of my life working with Dutch and Flemish curators in the United States and Europe and many of my closest friends over the years have been curators. When Gary Schwartz first talked to me about his idea to form an international organization of Dutch and Flemish curators, I immediately realized the importance such an organization (CODART) could become and thanks to him, subsequent directors and other key people, CODART has evolved into a very important, unifying organization which I happily support.”

About CODART Ambassadorship

Ambassadors are long-time Patrons for Life of CODART, who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the organization, for example by being an active member of the Patrons network, sharing contacts, making extra donations, and actively promoting CODART to others. In addition to the benefits for Patrons, Ambassadors enjoy the following benefits:

  • Ambassadors are mentioned separately and more prominently in our list of benefactors;
  • Ambassadors are exempt from drawing lots for congress participation;
  • Ambassadors are exempt from dual Patron membership and can always bring their partner to activities.

Ambassador is an honorary title and candidates are proposed by Friends of CODART board members or the CODART bureau, and must be elected unanimously. Appointment of Ambassadors is limited to one a year, at most.
