De dames van Kees Verwey

Kees Verwey’s women Exhibition: 25 June - 11 September 2005

From the museum website

Painter Kees Verwey (1900-1995) of Haarlem, one of the best portrait painters of the twentieth century, was able to capture character like no one else, creating hundreds of portraits throughout his long life. Now, ten years after his death, 35 portraits of women have been selected – portraits of his mother, his wife Jeanne, friends, random women who intrigued him, and commissioned portraits. The paintings, watercolours and drawings have been selected from the collections of the Kees Verwey foundation and the Frans Hals Museum.
