Vincent’s choice is one of the two exhibitions celebrating Vincent van Gogh’s 150th birthday. It will comprise around 150 works by artists Van Gogh admired.
The visitor will be surprised by the painter’s eclectic taste. His heroes ranged from Old Masters such as Rembrandt, Ruisdael and Van Goyen to academic contemporaries like Hubert von Herkomer and Jean-Léon Gérôme, and from his great role models Millet and Delacroix to his friends Toulouse-Lautrec, Bernard, Signac and Seurat. Works by these artists will be shown together with Van Gogh’s own pictures, allowing viewers to see the connect between inspiration and end result.
