DRAFTS

Exhibition: 11 October 2024 - 16 February 2025

The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium (KMSKB) devotes their exhibition DRAFTS to the art of sketches. A circuit of some 100 artworks takes visitors into the intimacy of the creative process, inviting them to the art studio in an attempt to grasp the very soul of the work, the first idea laid down on a blank sheet of paper, a plank of wood or a piece of cardboard. It is a discovery, offering a new perspective on the work behind the scenes of iconic artists such as Rogier van der Weyden and James Ensor to Rembrandt and Rubens.

This unique exhibition also marks the culmination of a major restoration campaign carried out by the KMSKB over a period of almost two years. There will be a new collection presentation from 11 October to 16 February 2025 at the KMSKB as well, titled Old Drawings.
