Information from the Rijksmuseum, 4 January 2016
Frans Post was the first artist in the Dutch territory of Brazil. At the invitation of Johan Maurits of Orange, he spent the period from 1630 to 1654 recording the inhabitants, the flora and the fauna. His paintings are now world-famous. This exhibition features his paintings and, for the first time, shows some of the drawings he made there.
