CODART, Dutch and Flemish art in museums worldwide

From New York with Love

Exhibition: 10 June - 19 September 2010

From the museum website, 9 June 2010

For over 10 years Matthijs de Clercq has been supporting the museum with acquisitions. De Clercq lives in New York, but is originally from Kennemerland, the area around Haarlem. He supports the museum mainly in the acquisition of drawings, particularly from periods which are underrepresented in the museum’s collection.

Thanks to his donations and help, the Teylers Museum’s collection has grown with more than 70 exclusive drawings by a.o. Pieter Aertsen, Crispijn van den Broeck, Corneille, Jacob Matham, Jan
Porcellis and Maerten de Vos, all of whom are very important masters who lacked in the collection of drawings. In short, they are all ‘firsts’, as they would say in New York.
