From Rembrandt to Vermeer: Masterpieces from The Leiden Collection

To celebrate Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, H’ART Museum presents From Rembrandt to Vermeer: Masterpieces from The Leiden Collection—the largest public display of The Leiden Collection ever shown in the Netherlands. Featuring 75 works by 27 artists, the exhibition includes more than a dozen paintings by Rembrandt van Rijn and the only painting by Johannes Vermeer still in private hands.

Organized thematically, the exhibition offers an intimate glimpse into seventeenth-century Dutch life, from expressive portraits and character studies to vibrant scenes of everyday activity.

Alongside the masterpieces by Rembrandt and Vermeer, highlights include works by Rembrandt’s teacher, pupils, and contemporaries—such as Ferdinand Bol, Govaert Flinck, and Arent de Gelder—as well as leading Leiden artists like Gerrit Dou, Jan Lievens, and Frans van Mieris the Elder. Also featured are works by Hendrick ter Brugghen, Frans Hals, Gerard ter Borch, and Caspar Netscher.

The exhibition is curated by Elizabeth Nogrady (The Leiden Collection) and Birgit Boelens (H’ART Museum), with advisory support from Arthur K. Wheelock Jr. (The Leiden Collection).
