Holland is celebrating its Dutch Golden Age. The Residenzgalerie Salzburg follows suit, presenting highlights of European painting. Seventy masterpieces from the Paintings Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Residenzgalerie Salzburg will be presented. Exceptional economic and socio-political conditions provided fertile ground for the heyday of Dutch painting in the 17th century. During this period, known as the Golden Age, the art of painting attained a quality unprecedented in this range of genres.
