From the museum bulletin
In 1976 the Jewish Historical Museum received an exceptional gift. The widow of the Reformed minister August Henkels gave the museum the letters exchanged between her late husband and the Groningen graphic artist Hendrik Nicolaas Werkman (1882-1945). She also donated the 60 proofs of Werkman’s “druksels” owned by her husband. For the first time in a long time, this material will be on display, in conjunction with a survey exhibition on Werkman in the Van Gogh Museum and the appearance of a new catalogue and edition of Werkman’s correspondence with members of De Blauwe Schuit.
