The Dutch Golden age was an era of many exciting events: From the batlle of Nieuwpoort and the founding of the Dutch East India Company to the capture of the Spanish treasure fleet by Piet Hein and the Raid on Chatham. Our national identity stems for a large part from the illustrious events of the time. Michiel de Ruyter, Maurits van Oranje, Frederik Hendrik and Piet Hein are still spoken of with pride. Teylers museum exhibits objects from the personal collection of Pieter Teyler that revoke the culture of this unique era, supplemented by objects on loan from other museums.
