The first major exhibition in Italy dedicated to one of the most influential artistic dynasties of the European Renaissance.

Running from 29 September 2026 to 31 January 2027, the exhibition The Brueghels: The Origins of Pictorial Genres in Europe takes visitors on a historical and artistic journey through more than 80 works, including paintings, drawings, and prints. It explores a “dynasty” of painters who played a decisive role in the development of the future pictorial genres in the Netherlands, Italy, and across Europe.

From snowy landscapes and stormy seas to still lifes, scenes of peasant life, and battle paintings, the emergence of these pictorial genres helped shape modern European painting as we know it today.
