Interior Platform – Interiors in Contemporary Heritage Care
(Interieurplatform: Interieurs in de actuele erfgoedzorg)
For the history of interiors, 2001 serves as a vital benchmark. In that year, the former State Service for Monument Care and the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage—both predecessors of today’s Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands—organized the Historical Interior Event: ‘Living in the Past.’ That year saw the release of numerous publications, alongside exhibitions, themed tours, special openings, and a multi-day conference. Through these activities and the dedication of many, the subject of interiors gained significant attention. Since then, knowledge and awareness have grown; furthermore, various analytical techniques and expanded conservation and restoration options have become available.
It is now twenty-five years later. Where do we stand today regarding the focus on interiors in contemporary heritage care? What do we expect for the future? What opportunities and possibilities do digitalization, AI, and new (research) techniques offer?
During the upcoming Interior Platform, we will reflect on the past decades, consider the present, and look ahead to new developments in the field of monumental interiors. This gathering will also mark the farewell of senior interior specialist Eloy Koldeweij on the occasion of his retirement.
Speakers include Annabel Westman, Eloy Koldeweij, Jacqueline Bionda, Richard Harmanni, Wijnand Freling and Irene Cieraad.
