Join us for a captivating Study Day dedicated to the Dutch master Jan Davidsz. de Heem, hosted in conjunction with our latest display, Picturing Excess: Jan Davidsz. de Heem at the Fitzwilliam Museum. For the first time ever, four monumental pronkstillevens (sumptuous still lifes) by de Heem, which he painted after moving to Antwerp around 1640, are displayed together, showcasing the artist’s dazzling technique and his exploration of luxury, global trade, and moral messages. This has presented a unique opportunity to analyse the works with the state-of-the-art equipment at the Fitzwilliam Museum.
