Koele Wateren

Cool Waters Exhibition: 20 March - 24 October 2021

Museum Gouda hosts the exhibition Cool Waters (Koele Wateren): a selection of paintings from the collection of the Rijksmuseum. Four centuries of art, starring water as both friend and foe.

For Koele Wateren, the Rijksmuseum’s collection has been searched for hidden gems. These are relatively unknown works by great masters such as Jan van Goyen, Salomon van Ruysdael, Hendrik Willem Mesdag, Jacob Maris and Isaac Israels, plus masterpieces by lesser-known painters.

In addition, the exhibition establishes a link with the future. What will happen if the sea level rises 6 meters and what will the Netherlands look like in 200 years?
