Museum information
The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem own a portrait of Érard de la Marck and a Holy Family. In the exhibition Prayers and portraits the two panels were displayed emphatically as a diptych. In 2006-07 both panels were restored in the Frans Hals Museum, where they were subjected to thorough technical and art-historical investigation. The crucial questions addressed were: do the paintings indeed belong together and if so, what was their original destination? The results will be presented in the exhibition in the Bonnefantenmuseum, with a selection of prints by Vermeyen and several paintings from his milieu. The exhibition was organized in close cooperation with the Frans Hals Museum, where a smaller presentation on the panels is being held.
