For the first time in thirty years, a rare masterpiece will be reunited. Bringing together the central panel from The National Gallery of Scotland’s collection, with the original wings in Compton Verney’s collection, the magnificent Lamentation Altarpiece will take center stage in the Northern European collection of Compton Verney.
This display will allow visitors to explore the ideas of remembrance, symbolism and storytelling. As well as consider the mysteries behind this painting, looking at new technical analysis and art historical discoveries to consider why the Altarpiece was made and by whom.
The exhibition is curated by Jane Simpkiss.
