Rubens doorgelicht: la furia del pennello

Rubens revealed: la furia del pennello Exhibition: 13 February - 4 April 2010

Information from the museum website, 26 January 2010

Since 2007, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp has – with the support of the Getty Foundation – been conducting extensive research on the paintings in its unique Rubens collection. Every year, the research findings are presented to the public in a dossier exhibition and publication. In the previous two editions, the spotlight was on individual paintings, namely The Prodigal Son and The Adoration of the Magi. This year’s publication focuses on Rubens’ virtuoso painting technique. His “furia del pennello”, or fury of the brush, is often mentioned, but still too little understood. In the galleries of the KMSKA, visitors can learn more about the Master’s exceptional painterly approach.
