St. Petersburg art treasures: the Romanovs as collectors of Netherlandish art

This two-week school is based on the collections of Netherlandish Art that is exhibited in the State Hermitage Museum and the Imperial Family’s Palaces. Lectures will include a review the Romanovs as collectors of Netherlandish Art spanning the entire period of their dynasty. The curriculum will include “Days In”, with lectures centered around the collection of Netherlandish Art housed at the famous State Hermitage Museum, and the “Days Out” with tours with an emphasis on Netherlandish Art to the Royal Imperial Palaces located in the suburbs of St. Petersburg. Moreover, the program will include workshops that will feature exclusive collections of the State Hermitage Museum. The course offers unprecedented access to art treasures that are not available to the general public as well as provides opportunities to discuss the given collections directly with museum curators and specialists.
