Symposium Pieter de Hooch: a characteristic painter from the Delft school

Symposium: 15 January 2020

From 11 October 2019 until 16 February 2020, Museum Prinsenhof Delft organizes the exhibition Pieter de Hooch in Delft. From the shadow of Vermeer. This is the first monographic exhibition on Pieter De Hooch (1629 – in/after 1679) in the Netherlands, and focuses on De Hooch’s career in Delft.

Symposium

On the occasion of the exhibition, Museum Prinsenhof Delft and the RKD – Netherlands Institute for Art History are organizing the symposium Pieter de Hooch: a characteristic painter from the Delft school, which on the one hand will present the results of the research carried out in preparation for the exhibition. On the other hand, the symposium will shed light on De Hooch as an artist in the Delft context and on the more general phenomenon of local schools of painting in the Dutch Republic.
