Symposium: The Inverted World of Adriaen van de Venne

The Zeeuws Museum, in collaboration with the RKD – Netherlands Institute for Art History, is organizing a symposium on Adriaen van de Venne (1590-1662). The symposium will take place on the occasion of the first major retrospective of his work – The Inverted World of Adriaen van de Venne – with works from the Netherlands and abroad.

Speakers

The symposium will focus on various aspects of Adriaen van de Venne’s life and work. Speakers include René van Stipriaan (literary historian), Yvonne Bleyerveld (senior curator of drawings and prints at the RKD and associate professor of art on paper and parchment at the University of Leiden), Johan Koppenol (professor of early Dutch literature at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) and Edwin Buijsen (Van de Venne specialist, associate researcher at the RKD and guest curator of the exhibition).
