Museum Mayer van den Bergh shows five paintings and two pieces of decorative arts from its collection that all share the theme of St. Anthony. One of the main pieces is The temptation of St. Anthony by (the school of) Maerten De Vos. The painting has been restored last year. The presentation is part of the museum’s “focus” series.
The four other paintings too show a depiction of The temptation of St. Anthony. They all reflect the influence of Hieronymus Bosch, who developed the theme. On the two decorative artworks St. Anthony is depicted among other saints.
