The Departamento do Património Histórico e Artístico da Diocese de Beja (Historical and Artistic Heritage Department of Beja Diocese’s) is in charge of the cultural religious heritage of the Beja region, located in the South of Portugal between the Atlantic ocean and the spanish border. The Diocese of Beja keeps over 200.000 inventoried works of art in churches, monasteries, convents and museums. Some of these works of art originated in the Low Countries.
