The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts possesses a notable collection of paintings by Netherlandish masters, including works by Jan de Beer, Simon Bening, Pieter Brueghel the Younger, Abraham Bloemaert, Paulus Bor, Hendrick de Clerck Pieter Claeissens the Elder, Albert Cornelis, Jan Davidsz. de Heem, Gerrit van Honthorst, Nicolaes Maes, the Master of the Legend of Saint Barbara, Hans Memling, Pieter van Mol, Rembrandt van Rijn, Jacob van Ruisdael, Godfried Schalcken, Frans Snijders, Gerard ter Borch, and Emanuel de Witte.

The collection was profoundly enriched several years ago by the donations of Michal and Renata Hornstein. These include major paintings by Willem van Aelst, Jan Asselijn, Ludolf Backhuizen, Abraham van Beyeren, Osias Beert, Nicolaes Berchem, Ferdinand Bol, Jan Both, Bartholomeus Breenbergh, Quirin van Brekelenkam, Jan Brueghel the Elder, Pieter Claesz, Pieter Codde, Allaert van Everdingen, Barent Fabritius, Joannes Fijt, Jan van Goyen, Joris van der Haagen, Cornelis van Haarlem, Jan Hackaert, Jan van der Heyden, Adriaen Isenbrandt, Jan Lievens, Carstian Luyckx, Nicolaes Maes Henri Met de Bles, Willem van Mieris, Joos de Momper, Caspar Netscher, Adam Pijnacker, Cornelis van Poelenburgh, Frans Pourbus, Jacob van Ruisdael, Floris van Schooten, Gerard van Spaendonck, Jan Steen, Hendrick van Steenwijk, David Teniers the Younger, Simon de Vlieger, Cornelis Vroom, Willem van de Velde the Younger, and Philips Wouwerman. The Museum also owns an extensive prints and drawings collection.
