Information
The collections of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Tours number more than two hundred Flemish and Dutch works, mainly paintings and graphic works. The seventeenth century is particularly well represented, with major works such as The Flight into Egypt by Rembrandt, a Virgin and Child ex-voto by Peter Paul Rubens, and a Seascape by Jan van Goyen. Etchings by Gerard Dou, Rembrandt, and Jacques de Gheyn (II) call to mind the vast production of prints that contributed to the dissemination of the Flemish and Dutch styles throughout Europe. Finally, the museum holds works by important representatives of the northern school such as Quinten Massijs (I), Joos van Cleve, and Frans Francken (II).
