Information
The Palais Fesch was built in accordance with the wishes of Napoleon’s maternal uncle, Cardinal Fesch. Without doubt the greatest collector of his day, Fesch donated approximately one thousand paintings to his hometown, Ajaccio.
The collection of Italian works is one of the most important of any French museum, with paintings from the fourteenth to the eighteenth centuries. This group is complemented by Flemish and Dutch works, above all by artists who worked in Italy, such as Matthijs Bril (II), Jan Miel, David de Coninck and Matthias Stom. The seventeenth century is also represented by a painting by Govert Flinck.
