The Art Museum Riga Bourse

Information

The Bourse Museum holds one of the largest collections of Dutch and Flemish art – focusing on the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries — in the Baltic region, numbering approximately 170 paintings and 300 prints. The collection developed from around 1750 to 1900 on the basis of bequests or donations from various private collectors to the municipality of Riga or the Museum of the Province of Courland.  

The painting collection includes major artists including Bartholomeus Spranger, Pieter Pietersz. Aertsen, Joos de Momper II, Abraham Bloemaert, Frans Francken II, Daniel Seghers, Anthonis van Dyck, Salomon van Ruysdael, Jan Porcellis, Pieter de Molijn, Klaes Molenaer, Jan Wynants, Jan van Kessel, and Egbert van der Poel.  

The seventeenth-century print collection includes twelve etchings by Rembrandt, the complete graphic oeuvre of Adriaen van Ostade, an extensive collection of works by Nicolaes Berchem, as well as works by Paulus Potter and other masters.
