The National Gallery is currently advertising two interesting job opportunities. The London museum is looking for an Associate Curator of Renaissance Painting (permanent) and a Simon Sainsbury Curatorial Fellow (22-month fixed term).

The Associate Curator of Renaissance Paintings supports the Curators of Italian Paintings before 1500, Sixteenth-century Italian Paintings, and Early Netherlandish, French, and German Paintings with the care and growth of the National Gallery’s pre-1600 collections, and with associated scholarly research, publications, and interpretation. The Associate Curator supports these Curators in seeking and recommending relevant new acquisitions and loans, and, as appropriate, acts as the curatorial lead on collection displays, gallery refurbishment projects, and exhibitions.

The Simon Sainsbury Curatorial Fellow will gain professional experience and knowledge through being involved at all stages in a full range of curatorial practices. They will support relevant curatorial staff with the care and growth of the National Gallery’s pre-1600 collections, help with scholarly research and publications, and participate in the creation and delivery of interpretation and public-facing activity relating to the pre-1600 paintings and the Gallery’s programme for its bicentenary in 2024.
