On 1 December the first copy of the long-awaited catalogue of the paintings in the Frans Hals Museum was presented to the burgomaster of Haarlem, Bernt Schneiders.
The volume presents all the paintings from 1500 to 1850 in the Frans Hals Museum, Haarlem. Each painting in the collection is illustrated in black and white together with the relevant information concerning maker, material, date, signature and provenance. 170 paintings are singled out for more complete treatment. An important aspect of the book are the biographies of artists from Haarlem, based on detailed archival research.
