The design phase of the restoration and renovation of Museum Prinsenhof Delft can be started. The Delft city council agreed with the renovation plans on 6 July. The decision follows an exceptional private donation of € 10 million from the Delft Vlek family, increasing the project’s budget to € 28 million.
The monumental Prinsenhof complex, a former monastery that temporarily served as the court of William of Orange in the sixteenth century, is in urgent need of renovation and major maintenance after the last major works 70 years ago.
Architectural firm BiermanHenket will lead the design team. A preliminary design is scheduled for mid-2022, after which a final design will be published early 2023. If construction starts in 2023, the project will be completed by the end of 2025.
See the museum website for more information about the renovation project and the donation (in Dutch).
