New Director of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts, Brussels

A number of Belgian newspapers are reporting on the appointment of Kim Oosterlinck as the new director of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium in Brussels. The media are citing an internal e-mail sent by the federal government to the staff of the institution.

Oosterlinck will be leaving the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), where he is currently Vice Rector and Professor of Finance. In addition to his areas of research in economics and finance, he also specializes in the art trade. As of July 1, he succeeds Michel Draguet, who resigned last year following public criticism of his policies.

The KMSKB consists of the Old Masters Museum, the Wiertz Museum, the Meunier Museum and the Magritte Museum.
