The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Municipality of Eindhoven have announced a partnership to establish a new branch of the national museum in Eindhoven, located in the Southern Netherlands. The facility is intended to showcase works from the museum’s extensive collection, focusing on themes of creativity and craftsmanship. Technology company ASML has committed to serving as a founding partner, providing significant financial contribution to the project.
The new museum is slated to be a dynamic cultural center, offering exhibitions designed to present the collection from new perspectives. It will be located in a new park on the green banks of the Dommel River and in close proximity to the city’s main train station, ensuring accessibility for both local and international visitors. Detailed architectural plans for the building, which is projected to cover more than 3,500 square meters, will be developed over the next year, with an anticipated opening in six to eight years.
