Winter scene by Esaias van de Velde stolen from Wallraf-Richartz-Museum

Over the weekend of 23-25 July a precious, diminutive winter scene by Esaias van de Velde was stolen from the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Cologne.

The painting is signed and dated 1629. In George Keyes, Esaias van de Velde, 1587-1630, Doornspijk 1984, the painting is listed under cat. nr. 72 as the only autograph painting by the master in the museum. It is painted on panel and measures 11.2 x 14.9 cm.
