The international conservation, research, and public engagement program for Hubert and Jan van Eyck’s Ghent Altarpiece (1432) has been shortlisted for the 2026 Keck Award by the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (IIC).
Awarded biennially, the Keck Award recognizes projects that promote public understanding of conservation science and cultural heritage preservation. The nomination of the Ghent Altarpiece’s restoration project highlights the multi-year initiative involving live conservation studios, open-access research platforms including Closer to Van Eyck, and public outreach centered at St. Bavo’s Cathedral in Ghent.
