Dennis Weller will retire from his position as Curator of Northern European Art at the North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA) by the end of 2018. Weller, a specialist in seventeenth-century Dutch and Flemish art, joined the museum as curator in 1995. Three years later he joined CODART when it was founded in 1998.
Dennis Weller organized several exhibitions with Dutch and Flemish at the NCMA, including Sinners and saints, darkness and light: Caravaggio and his Dutch and Flemish followers (1999) Like father, like son? Portraits by Frans Hals and Jan Hals (2000), Jan Miense Molenaer, painter of the Dutch Golden Age (2002), Rembrandt in America (2011-12), and Small Treasures: Rembrandt, Vermeer, Hals, and Their Contemporaries (2014-15).
Following his retirement, Dennis Weller plans to continuing working on a volume devoted to ‘Frans Hals in America’, as well as a monograph on Jan Miense Molenaer.
