Kunsthistorisches Museum Selects Jonathan Fine to Succeed Sabine Haag as Director in 2025

Jonathan Fine, an American art historian who has served as scientific director of the Weltmuseum in Vienna since July 2021, has been selected to succeed Sabine Haag as general director of the city’s Kunsthistorisches Museumsverband, overseeing three major Viennese museums, the Art Newspaper reports.

Fine is an art and cultural historian whose work has focused on art from Africa. Prior to his position at the Weltmuseum, he was head of collections at Berlin’s Ethnology Museum. Before becoming an art historian, he worked as a lawyer in the United States for many years. His work covered human rights, international trade disputes and constitutional rights.
