Philadelphia Museum of Art Appoints Heather Hughes as Associate Curator of Prints

The Philadelphia Museum of Art has appointed Heather Hughes as the Kathy and Ted Fernberger Associate Curator of Prints as of 11 April 2022. In her new role, she will help manage the Museum’s distinguished collection of 120,000 prints. A specialist in early modern Northern European prints, Hughes will devote special attention to developing new strategies for activating and interpreting the collection of prints made before 1800.

Prior to her appointment, Hughes served as the Kemper Assistant Curator of Academic Affairs and Exhibitions at the Davis Museum at Wellesley College, where she oversaw the museum’s early modern collections and spearheaded exhibitions designed to engage faculty and students across disciplines. Previously, she held curatorial positions at the Saint Louis Art Museum, the Rijksmuseum, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Her exhibitions and publications have focused on costume prints, artistic exchange between the Low Countries and England, representations of cultural difference, and the influence of prints on the applied arts.

Hughes currently serves as chair of CODART’s Advisory Panel on Inclusion.
