CODART, Dutch and Flemish art in museums worldwide

Jheronimus: The Road to Heaven and Hell published by Gary Schwartz

Gary Schwartz, art historian and founder of CODART has published Jheronimus: The Road to Heaven and Hell. The publication was presented today at the Jheronimus Bosch Art Center in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

Jheronimus: The Road to Heaven and Hell presents a complete introduction to all paintings and drawings by Bosch and his workshop. Aimed at a general audience, the book offers concise information and high quality images in accessible writing. It is arranged thematically rather than chronologically

By avoiding hair-splitting connoisseurship, but without neglecting the quality judgments no art historian can ignore, the author offers new interpretations of his own to spark discussion and stimulate the imagination of the reader.

Year of Jheronimus Bosch

The Road to Heaven and Hell appears at the beginning of 2016, the commemorative year that marks the death of the artist 500 years ago. Many festivities will be organized throughout the world, among others the exhibitions organized by the Noordbrabants Museum in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid.
