Print Quarterly March 2019 (vol. XXXVI, no. 1) Issue Published

The latest issue of Print Quarterly (Vol.XXXVI, No.1, March 2019) includes an article by Joseph Connors on a large print by Wenceslaus Hollar that illustrates the imagined history of one of the first families of Portugal, the Moura. It was commissioned in the Spanish Netherlands in 1644-45. One of the first families of Portugal, the Moura were loyal servants of Spain from the time of Philip II to Philip IV. Three members of the family were commemorated with portraits engraved by Paulus Pontius in 1626. The issue also contains a review of a recent catalogue of Lucas van Leyden’s work.
